A teenager riding a moped was stabbed in the stomach during an attempted robbery near Clapham Junction.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 19-year-old was stabbed during a robbery on the Winstanley Estate, Battersea.

Lavender Road, Battersea 

At about 6pm, on Friday, July 18 the victim, who was riding a moped, was approached by four men on Lavender Road.

They tried to steal his moped and stabbed the 19-year-old four times. They ran off towards York Gardens.

A member of the public took the victim to Battersea Fire Station in the hope that someone would be able to help him.

Fortunately a member of the team was medically trained and dressed his wounds, which included a stab wound to the stomach.

The fire fighters gave him oxygen and compressed his wounds while they waited for the London Ambulance Service.

The victim was taken by ambulance to a south London hospital where he remains in a stable condition. His injuries are not life-threatening.

Wandsworth detectives are keen to speak to anyone who saw the stabbing or has information regarding the suspects.


One of the men is described as black, aged 18, 5ft 11in tall, with short afro hair and a gold capped tooth. He was wearing a black T-shirt.

Another suspect is described as a mixed race man, aged 25-30, 5ft 10in tall with shaved hair. He was wearing a dark blue top and shorts.

The third suspect is described as black, aged about 20, 5ft 9in tall and wearing a white top.

The final man is described as black, aged 18-22, 5ft 6in tall, shaved hair and wearing a white top.
