A young up-and-coming guitarist is bringing his own brand of the blues to the borough.

Warwick-raised guitarist Laurence Jones and his blues band will be at the Half Moon, Putney, on August 20.

With two albums already under his belt, the 22-year-old has recently visited America to record at the legendary Dockside Studio in Louisiana.

Now back on UK soil, the blues boy looks forward to swapping the deep south for south-west London to perform at the Half Moon, which has staged up-and-coming acts since the early 60s.

The British artist has always played the guitar but did not catch the blues bug until he got hold of his first electric guitar at 13.

Laurence says: "I liked the fact that in blues not everything was meant to be perfect."

Jones struck gold when he was given the chance to meet and perform with his all-time hero, Walter Trout.

He says: "The first CD my dad ever gave to me was the album Transition by Walter. I was very honored to be invited on tour with Walter around the UK in 2012 and 2013."

Walter even played guitar on the title track of Laurence’s second album, Temptation (2014).

Ever since the release of his debut album Thunder in the Sky (2012), Laurence has clocked up thousands of miles travelling across Europe. With the summer temperatures ever-rising, there has never been a better time to grab a drink at the riverside venue and catch this young artist before he is back on the other side of the Atlantic.
