A stall was set up in Tooting Broadway yesterday with a petition to stop the war in Gaza.
By the end of the day 45 petition sheets were filled with signatures- all from people calling on the Prime Minister David Cameron to push Israel to stop bombing the region.
The stall was set up by Colin Crilly, Ray Silk and Pat Sheerin from the Wandsworth Stop the War Coalition.
They were joined by members of the Lambeth & Wandsworth Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
Mr Crilly said: “Around 20 people volunteered and we had some great interaction with the public.
“It may be happening elsewhere in the world, but this is something a lot of people care very deeply about.
“Some people even stopped in the street and wanted to help out."
The stall was based outside TK Maxx in Tooting High Street.
Similar events took place up and down the country.
