Street parties are being encouraged by the council.

Wandsworth has stripped away much of the red tape surrounding street parties and all the information required can be submitted via an online questionnaire.

For £50 the council will sort out the legal order needed to close a public highway.

Council leader, Ravi Govindia, said: "Wandsworth residents are great organisers of street parties. There is great community spirit in the borough and there is no better way of demonstrating that than by holding a wonderful neighbourhood celebration that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and backgrounds.

“We are firm believers in these types of community-led events which is why we have made arranging them so simple and easy.”
