Top men’s cyclists from across from the world are gearing up for the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic this afternoon.

2012 Tour de France winner Sir Bradley Wiggins will lead out Team Sky, which includes Ben Swift, Ian Stannard and Luke Rowe.

The race will start from 1pm.

Sir Bradley said: “I’m really looking forward to Sunday and to being back on the road with Team Sky.

“I always enjoy competing in front of home fans and have great memories of riding this route at the Olympics.

“The support we got then was unbelievable, and it was the same again at the Tour of Britain last year, so this promises to be a really special day.”

His British counterpart Mark Cavendish planned to take part, but has chosen to race in the Tour de l'Ain, in France instead on Tuesday, August 12.

The Classic is the final competition of the Mayor of London event, where Italian cyclist Giorgia Bronzini won the Grand Prix yesterday evening, and roughly 24,000 members of the public are setting off throughout the day for the RideLondon 100.

French rider and 2012 World Champion Phillipe Gilbert will be involved in this afternoon’s race, as well as Luke Davidson, Tom Scully, Shane Archbold, Scott Thwaites, and Aaron Gate- who all picked up medals in the Commonwealth Games.
