A brave woman bit a would-be robber on the arm when he grabbed her by the neck and tried to steal her possessions in broad daylight.

The 35-year-old woman had been walking home, between Clapham and Wandsworth commons, when a man approached her from behind, placed his arm around her neck and demanded her property.

The incident took place in St Hillier Road just before 3pm on Friday, August 15.

The woman bit her attacker and managed to free herself from his grip. The man fled empty-handed on a bicycle and was seen turning into Thurleigh Road.

Fortunately the woman did not require hospital treatment.

The man was black, very light skinned, 6ft 2in, age 19-29 and had a muscular build. His hair was short, with a straight fringe.

He was wearing a blue and white horizontal striped top, blue jeans and was riding a silver or white hybrid-style bicycle.
