A former Cabinet Office digital expert has been jailed for nearly three years after being caught with hundreds of indecent images of children.

Sebastian Crump, 39, from Earlsfield, was arrested in January this year by detectives from the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command’s Paedophile Unit. It was part of huge operation during which 650 paedophile suspects were held.

Crump pleaded guilty on Thursday, July 31, to three counts of making an indecent image of a child and one count of distributing an indecent photograph of a child.

He was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison on Thursday, August 28.

Crump, of Swaffield Road, created the images while working as an IT expert on the government’s official website.

It is understood Crump worked for Action for Children, which helps vulnerable and neglected children, in the late 1990s.

Westminster Magistrates' Court heard how Crump kept at his home 375 images and videos involving child and animal abuse, 82 of which were classed as the most serious category.

Crump was suspended from the Cabinet Office in January and quit in March, according to a government spokesman.
