A service set up in April has helped more than 200 people with mental health needs held in police stations and magistrates courts.

The South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLSTG), based in Tooting, and mental health charity, Together, have been helping people in Kingston and Wandsworth police custody suites and at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court.

The project has provided support to people with learning disabilities, personality disorders, substance misuse issues and people who are homeless or experiencing domestic violence.

The trust is supporting a series of events in October, including a balloon release, aimed at challenging discrimination and raising awareness of mental health issues.

A team of runners from the trust took part in the Richmond Running Festival on Sunday, September 21 to raise awareness of stigma and discrimination.
