The mission is on to identity a mystery artist responsible for a number of Banksy-style graffiti pieces.

Wandsworth Times:

Distinctive artwork has appeared in the Battersea area in the past year and another popped up last week in Northcote Road.

The graffiti shows a sad-looking girl sitting with a balloon in hand, which forms the O in the word ‘hope’ above her.

Wandsworth Times:

The artwork mimics the famous Banksy Balloon Girl piece, which is worth £500,000 and was carefully removed from Shoreditch earlier this year for auction.

The Banksyesque creations include a depiction of Max Clifford being caught with his pants down in York Road.

Wandsworth Times:

The former PR guru, who was jailed after being found guilty of various sex charges, had "I can make you famous!!" stamped next to the compromising image which appeared in March. Other artwork includes Alex Salmond dressed as William Wallace, a pig-tailed girl carrying swords, and some cleverly edited road signs.

Wandsworth Times:

PR Andrew Bloch claimed that the controversial Max Clifford image was the work of artist T.Wat.

The graffiti is located close to the Royal College of Art's Battersea campus but a spokeswoman said: "We are not aware that any of the graffiti involves our students, so who knows, hopefully for Wandsworth it could be a Banksy."

Wandsworth Times:

True pieces from the Bristol-born pseudonymous Banksy can fetch hundreds of thousands of pounds.
