A toddler had to be rescued by firefighters after getting his head stuck in railings while playing in the garden.
A three-year-old boy was playing in the front garden of his home yesterday afternoon when he got his head stuck in railings.
A total of 15 firefighters from Tooting and Battersea turned out to help the little boy, who was uninjured but shocked to be stuck.
Tooting crew manager Michael Penfold said firefighters used specialist equipment used for freeing people in car crashes to free the toddler while his worried mum and her friends looked on.
They were called by the boy’s mother at about 4pm on Friday, October 17 who said her son was stuck.
Mr Penfold said: “We put the spreaders between two bars and pulled them apart to make room for his head to come out.
“He had pushed his head between the bars.
“He was messing around in the garden and put his head between the bars.”
The incident happened at a home in Brodrick Road, Tooting.
Firefighters were there for about half an hour.
The toddler was not hurt and an ambulance which was called was not needed.
