Green fingered residents of Battersea Power Station’s new swanky apartments will be able to enjoy one of London’s biggest roof gardens.

How the garden is expected to look in the Summer

The station’s developers (BPSDC) have unveiled their plans for Battersea Roof Gardens that will sit 15-storeys high and stretch for 355m.

The garden is for residents and hotel guests of the 1930s-themed apartments, designed by Foster and Partners, on the western side of the new high street Electric Boulevard.

The cheapest studio apartment starts at £495,000 and prices rise right up to £3.2 million for a four-bedroom flat.

However, for those looking to buy a penthouse - prices will only be revealed on application.

The gardens were designed by urban landscaper James Corner who created the High Line park in New York and parts of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

They will be illuminated at night and BPSDC said there will be opportunities throughout the year for the public to visit the gardens.

The gardens form phase three of the £8bn redevelopment surrounding Battersea Power Station.

They will provide a full view of the power station, seating areas, a fitness deck, a bar and a woodland walkway through trees.

Mr Corner said: "The design of pathways, plantings, overlooks, furniture and special settings offer an air of theatricality and drama in the sky, making the garden a very special and unique experience in the context of London."

Grant Brooker, senior executive partner of Foster and Partner said: "To create a garden this spectacular in our home city, that is so near to The Power Station that we all love, is very special."

On the eastern side of the high street there will also be Prospect Park next to Gehry Partners’ Prospect Place development.

This park will include a children’s play area and a community building, open to the public, for lectures and performances.
