Boris Johnson has set out the case for Crossrail 2 that could come to Tooting Broadway and Clapham Junction.

The consultation has showed strong support for the high frequency, high capacity rail line aimed at linking the south-west and north-east London.

Plans are going to be submitted to the Government for the safeguarding of a regional route, while Transport for London and Network Rail work with the Government on financing options.

The railway network would connect Wimbledon to Seven Sisters, in north-east London, via Tooting, Clapham Junction, and a number of central London stops.

Richard Tracey, the London Assembly member for Wandsworth said: "We must continue to campaign hard for this vital new railway line."
