During the first incident, just after 7am, a black Citroen was flipped on to its roof after colliding with a yellow Suzuki motorcycle in Nightingale Lane, not far from Oak Lodge School.
London Ambulance Service took a man, understood to be the car driver, reported to be in his 50s, as a priority to St George’s Hospital in Tooting. The motorcyclist was also taken to hospital.
The London Fire Brigade attended the smash and helped free the man from the overturned car. Police temporarily cordoned off the road.
Then just after 8am a silver Volkswagen collided with an Astra van in Nightingale Lane, near the junction with Bolingbroke Grove.
During the crash four children, under the age of 10, were hit by roadside furniture although police were unable to give a description of what hit them.
It is understood nobody was seriously hurt in the second crash.
