Tooting musicians have released a Christmas album in aid of a hearing loss charity.

Wandsworth Times:

More than 65 people have united to make a Christmas album for Action on Hearing Loss.

The Christmas Rewrapped album was born after Gavin Holligan, from Tooting, joined up with former Brit School classmate, bassist Teresa Morini.

Ms Morini has just returned from touring with Cirque du Soliel and had hearing loss diagnosed at the age of six. She wanted to do something to raise awareness of hearing loss and inspire others affected by the condition to reach for their dreams despite their disability.

The duo, with Mr Holligan’s sister Emily, make up a band The In Thing which has produced the six-track album. It features much-loved Christmas songs such as Jingle Bells and Hark the Herald Angels Sing.

The band called in help from industry contacts who have performed with everyone from Stevie Wonder to Jessie J.

Miss Holligan said: "We really wanted to use this project to help raise awareness of hearing loss as it’s a cause close to our heart - losing your hearing as a musician is probably your biggest nightmare, so we wanted to spread the message as hearing loss is a condition that often goes unnoticed."

The album is available as a digital download for a donation of £6. Fifty per cent of all proceeds will be donated to Action on Hearing Loss and national children’s charity. For more information visit theinthing.bandcamp.com/album/christmas-rewrapped.
