South Thames College was given the royal seal of approval last week.

Wandsworth Times:

His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales visited the college's Wandsworth campus on Friday, December 19, to celebrate a group of young people's achievements after having their lives changed by the Prince's Trust.

Prince Charles visited 10 unemployed young people who recently completed a 12-week programme which helps them to become more confident and equip them with skills they need to find jobs.

Cherrelle Marsham, 23, a mother-of-one from Wimbledon, said: "I’ve never been employed, let alone had a CV, but the team programme has showed me that I am capable of getting a job and achieving the things I want to do.

"I was really grateful to secure some experience while on the programme, working with young people with learning difficulties, because it’s going to help shape mine, and my family’s, future."

"I’ve been on an incredible journey and meeting HRH the Prince of Wales has made my year.

"I’m now full of confidence and can’t wait to move forward, thanks to the Prince’s Trust."

The royal visit also coincided with South Thames College reaching the 300 team programme milestone in the youth charity's 38 year history.

Wandsworth Times:

Martina Milburn, chief executive of the Prince’s Trust, said: "These hardworking and passionate young people prove that, with the right support, it is possible for the unemployed to transform their lives.

"We hope that their stories will inspire other young people to get in touch with the Prince’s Trust and find out how we can help them realise their potential and move into work, education or training."
