A Tooting couple got the best present this year when their baby boy was born in the early hours of Christmas Day.

Wandsworth Times:

Taylan was the first baby born at St George’s Hospital on Christmas Day and arrived four weeks early at 1.52am.

His mum Nikita Bradshaw, 27, and dad Jordan Clark, 26, were over the moon with their sleepy bundle of joy who left hospital for his Tooting home on Sunday.

Taylan who weighed 5lb 10oz arrived home in his father’s red and white baby grow that he wore 26 years ago.

Miss Bradshaw, receptionist at Headmasters salon in Clapham Junction, said: “He’s great, he’s just sleeping a lot of the time. He’s my first baby.

“[The birth] was fine. It was obviously painful but it was worth it. It was just over six hours.

“I was going round to family’s for a big family meal but they all scoffed dinner down and came to the hospital to see Taylan on Christmas Day.

“It didn’t feel like it was Christmas at the time because obviously I wasn’t in a Christmassy environment. But I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

The couple were supposed to be celebrating Christmas Day at Mr Clark’s parents’ house, but instead, their roast dinners were brought to the hospital.

A Putney mother was also celebrating on Christmas Day after giving birth to her first child, two weeks after the due date.

Nadiya Parashchuk was originally due to give birth on December 11 but did not go into labour until Christmas Eve.

Baby Elizabeth was born at Kingston Hospital at 12.45am on Christmas morning, weighing 7lb 7oz.

Mrs Parashchuk said: “This is my first baby so I didn’t know what to expect. It’s been tiring but I’m getting used to all the feeding now. There is a little bit of adjusting to do.
