Three men were injured when a car smashed into a lamppost and burst into flames in Streatham on Sunday evening.
Police are asking for witnesses to discover why the Citroen Berlingo crashed at about 6.55pm on Mitcham Lane, near the junction with Riggindale Road.
No other vehicles were involved.
Police arrested all three men in the car on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink driving. They were bailed to dates in February and March.
One of the men, aged 36 is in a serious condition in hospital although his injuries were not life-threatening, police said. Two other men, aged 33 and 47, were treated and discharged.
