A window shattered and blew outwards after water was poured on a chip pan fire.
Two fire engines from Wandsworth and Fulham were called to Bordon Walk, Roehampton, at 4.30pm on Friday, February 20, after the pan caught alight while the occupant was making chips.
A Wandsworth firefighter said the occupant poured water on the pan to try and put out the flames, but it created flash out which caused the window to blow out.
London Fire Brigade has issued advice on chip pan fires which states not to move the pan, do not put water on it as it will create a fireball, turn off the heat if it is safe to do so and get out before calling 999.
