The body of a rowing coach who went missing after his boat capsized in the River Thames has been found near Putney Bridge.
Michael Hill, 48, a coach at Latymer Upper School, Hammersmith, got into difficulties on the Thames on February 2 and it is believed he became separated from the eight rowers he was coaching at the time.
His boat was found upturned by a passerby, who raised the alarm.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed today, March 9, that his body was recovered near Putney Bridge yesterday.
Headteacher at Latymer David Goodhew said: "Our much missed rowing coach Michael Hill was recovered from the Thames yesterday and has been formally identified.
"Although we were anticipating such news, it is still a shock and our thoughts are with Michael’s family and the rowing community, both at Latymer Upper School and beyond."
Mr Hill’s next of kin have been informed. If you would like to pay tribute to Mr Hill email ssleigh@london.newsquest.co.uk
