Fiendishly filthy, infernally irreverent, malevolently mischievous and devilishly funny: AAAGH! IT'S THE MR. HELL SHOW!
"SHARP, CYNICAL AND VERY SLICK" - HEAT
After years spent in a bottomless pit of legal limbo, the multi-award winning animated comedy sketch show for adults is finally unleashed on DVD as a double disc set featuring all 13 episodes of the show, each packed with the kinds of cartoons kids definitely shouldn't watch.
Meet the sulphurous and sardonic Mr. Hell, a satanic superstar who not only stars in his own in his own adventures but also introduces a parade of short, sharp sketches features a cavalcade of seriously cracked recurring characters, each one infected with the same wickedly cynical sense of humour. Voiced by that lascivious Lucifer, veteran comedian and entertainer Bob Monkhouse, he's the anti-hero you love to hate - but secretly just love - a cruel cross between Bugs Bunny, Groucho Marx and the demon Pazuzu.
Among Mr. Hell's cast of co-stars are Serge the Seal of Death, who has vowed bloody revenge on the entire fashion industry following the death of his parents at the hands of fur trappers, Victorian Lady Detective, the 19th century sleuth who may crack the Ripper case so long as she isn't first arrested for showing her ankles in public, and Champion the Wonder Snail, the rescuing mollusc hero who is a bit like Lassie but much, much slower. Then there's a depressive squid, a man who believes in reincarnation (which is just as well considering the amount of times he dies from episode to episode), the tart theme park tour guide and well, you get the picture.
With an average death toll of nineteen characters per episode (the highest mortality rate of any cartoon series ever made!) and some merciless spoofs of Scooby-Doo, Thomas the Tank Engine and Harry Potter amongst others, AAAGH! IT'S THE MR. HELL SHOW proves that when it comes to animated comedy for adults, the devil really does have all the best 'toons!
