A crane operator was rescued from his cab high in the sky this morning in Putney after suffering an apparent stroke.

London Ambulance and London Fire Brigade teams climbed ropes to reach the man and brought him down using a basket stretcher on an aerial ladder platform.

A London Ambulance spokeswoman said they were called to Woodlands Way in Putney at 8.42am.

She said: "We sent a number of resources to the scene including an ambulance crew, duty manager and our hazardous area response team.

"We treated a man reported to be in his 30s for a possible stroke and took him to St Georges hospital as a priority."
