Trains were severely delayed this morning between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction, West Croydon and Crystal Palace after a lineside fire at Deptford.
Network Rail said shortly before 9am that services were returning to normal, but passenger at West Croydon station were told at 10.30am no trains would be running north to London Victoria.
An electrical fault around Balham has also hampered trains this morning.
Beowulf Mayfield, stuck at Crystal Palace, said: "There's a lot of people standing around here. We've been waiting for a train through to Norwood Junction since about 8.15am [about 45 minutes].
"I escaped one delay only to be caught up in another."
No one does chaos quite like @SouthernRailUK at East Croydon.

I am laughing. Train is now terminating at East Croydon - no power in Wandsworth Bridge area. I'm a bit stuck.

More to come.
