University of Roehampton professor David Harsent has seen an opera he played a key role in creating, performed at the Royal Opera House.
Prof Harsent, chairman of the Roehampton Poetry Society and current holder of the TS Eliot Poetry Prize, worked alongside Sir Harrison Birtwistle and composed the libretto for the Cure, which received its world premiere at the much-respected Aldeburgh Festival.
It was part of a double bill alongside The Corridor, also a collaboration between Harsent and Birtwistle, which premiered at the same festival in 2009.
The show, based on the Greek myth of Jason and the Golden Fleece, ran until June 27.
