Police are appealing for information about a robbery attack with a carrier bag on a dog-walker  made public by the Wimbledon Guardian on Thursday after a posting in a Facebook group.

Thursday: 'Carrier bag used to suffocate dog-walker' during Wimbledon Common robbery

Police provided an extra detail about the robbery - which took place sometime between 1pm and 1.45pm in a wooded area of Wimbledon Common - that the victim was pushed over after having a carrier bag put over her head.

The incident came to light after a warning on Facebook.

The Met Police said: "The victim stated she had been walking her dog in a wooded area near the centre of the Common when she bent down to use a plastic bag to clean up after the dog.

"A male suspect approached her from behind and put a plastic bag over her head.

"The suspect then took her watch, her jewellery and phone, and pushed her over before making off from the scene."

If you have information about the robbery call Wandsworth police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
