A drink-driver caught nearly four times the alcohol limit on a main road by Wandsworth police has been banned from driving for three years.

Juan Carter, 56, was caught driving a BMW X3 on the A216 Mitcham Lane in July. He admitted having 131 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath, and must also carry out 200 hours of unpaid work.

He pleaded guilty at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on August 4, and was sentenced last Friday. Carter, of pricy Seward Street in central London, also admitted cannabis possession.

He must pay £325 in court costs and fees.

A new X3, weighing some 1.75 tonnes, sells for between £30,000 and £44,000, according to AutoTrader.
