Thick black smoke billowed from the first floor of a flat in Clapham High Street this afternoon, as 20 firefighters worked to control the blaze.
London Fire Brigade responded to several calls, at about 1.50pm today, reporting a fire above a mini cab firm close to Clapham North tube station.
Twenty firefighters are currently working to halt the blaze, with two fire engines from Clapham and another two from Brixton on the scene.
A spokesman said: "There are no reporters of any injuries at the moment."
They added the cause of the fire had yet to be determined.
