Battersea Power Station has inspired more than 450 artworks which will go on public display this weekend.

The iconic landmark has featured on a Pink Floyd album cover, appeared in the Beatles film ‘Help!’ and in music videos for bands such as The Jam and Take That.

Council leader Ravi Govindia said: "The power station is Wandsworth’s greatest landmark and has been inspiring artists for generations.

"This event is wonderful way to celebrate the building’s creative legacy and to look forward to its complete revival."

The power station is at the centre of the Nine Elms regeneration project, which will see it transformed into housing and community facilities as part of an £8bn scheme.

In June both professionals and amateurs were encouraged to submit their own creative interpretations of the Power Station.

Over the past two months just fewer than 500 artworks were submitted, with entries arriving from as far as Canada and New Zealand.

The exhibition is free to attend and many works will be available to buy, with prices ranging from £10 to £10,000.

Battersea Arts Centre in Lavender Hill is hosting the event from Saturday 26 to Sunday 27 September 2015.

Admission is free and the exhibition is open from 10am to 5pm each day.
