Green-fingered nursery children got closer to nature as they took turns to plant daffodils as part of sustainability initiative.
Natural Urban Gardeners (NUGs), a local organic gardening business, visited Number1Daycare in Earlsfield last week to inspire children with their all-natural products including peat-free coir compost and coir pots made from the husks of coconuts.
Children were each given their own coir pot, signed with their name and entrusted to them to look after at the nursery.
On springs arrival families can then take their biodegradable plant home and place the pot straight into the ground, enjoying their daffodils.
Rachel Collison, NUG founder, said both plants and children should get "the best organic start to life".
Gina Cespedes, owner of Number1Daycare agreed that the partnership with NUGs had added "to the loving environment" and would "help the children to thrive and grow".
