Campaigners from the Battersea Labour Party took to the streets of Wandsworth on Saturday to encourage people to fight the tax credit cuts.
The party held a national action day, and the Battersea branch took the petition to Battersea Park Road where they collected 80 signatures.
Vice chairman of campaigns, Amin Rahman, said: "We were really pleased at the turn out of our volunteers on Saturday, despite the rain.
"We got a good response from locals on the doorsteps, and lots of support for our stop the tax credit cut petition."
