Ramsden Road in Balham was temporarily closed around 12.10pm today after builders working in the area dug up what was believed to be a wartime ordnance.
Builders alerted Wandsworth police, who went to the area, but the object was found to be safe.
@wandsworthbecca Am guessing a rusty, muddy and vaguely bomb shaped piece of metal. Enough to make builders call us :) SM

A Met Police spokesman said: "Police were called at 11:13am on Wednesday, November 18 to reports of a possible World War II ordnance in Ramsden Road, Wandsworth.
"Local road closures were put in place and explosives officers called.
"The ordnance was subsequently deemed non-suspicious and the incident stood down. It is unclear at this stage what in fact the ordnance was."
