Hot shot table tennis players from Ernest Bevin College thrived on the adrenaline to take top honours in the central London regional final of the Jack Petchey Foundation London Schools Team competition.
The boys' U13 and U16s teams overcame competition at Chelsea Academy from 172 players and 15 teams from schools from Camden, City of Westminster, Islington, Kensington & Chelsea, Lambeth, Southwark and Wandsworth.
The winners of the regional competitions progress to the Jack Petchey London School’s Team finals on January 30 at the Sports Dock at the University of East London.
The U16 boys team, all 15, were Joel Attah, Matteo William, Nicholas Mbabazi, Ziom Bounpoutou and Romanie Hylton.
Hylton said: “This competition has been great for us. It’s great to win a team event as it has helped to improve our teamwork skills.
"The whole tournament was really exciting and it’s difficult to describe just how different it is to just training.
"I would say the biggest difference is the adrenaline rush before and during the matches. We can’t wait for the final.”
The U13 boys' team, all age 12, were Nahom Goitom, Adam Bonmohamed, Howard Onweng and Kagethan Kantakumar.
