Formula E will return to Battersea Park for at least another two years.
The decision was taken after the borough's Overview and Scrutiny committee voted seven to four in favour of continuing with the five year £1m contract to stage the race in Wandsworth.
It came after a debate on the matter lasting several hours.
The next opportunity to break the contract will be in 2017.
