Mulled wine and mince pies gave Southfields a festive feeling on Tuesday night, for the annual Christmas lights switch-on.
Putney, Roehampton and Southfields MP Justine Greening joined 1,000 residents as well as councillors Kim Caddy, Guy Humphries and Terence Walsh for the event.
Around 1,000 local residents turned out to see the Christmas lights being switched on.
Pupils from St Michael’s C of E School enjoy the festive atmosphere.
All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) director Marti Guntrip did the honours, counting down and turning on the lights, with carols sung by pupils from Riversdale, Sheringdale and St Michael’s primary schools.
Live jazz from Red Jackson played as shoppers wandered through the market stalls.
Sunny Patel, newsagent and chairman of the Southfields Business Forum said: "We are delighted that Southfields residents came out in force to celebrate what is our largest scale event yet. We would like to thank the All England Club for their generous sponsorship which together with support from local businesses made the event possible."
Sheringdale School pupils sing Christmas carols.
AELTC Club Director Martin Guntrip gets some help with the countdown.
Ulrika Hogberg, Wimbledon foundation and community manager at the AELTC said: "Supporting our local communities in Merton and Wandsworth is one of the principal objectives of the Wimbledon Foundation and we are pleased to be able to use the resources of the Club to support the Southfields community in this way."
