A Ukranian man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and people-smuggling in a joint operation between UK investigators and Belgian federal police.
Marian Shkirko, 33, was arrested in Battersea by National Crime Agency (NCA) officers using European Arrest Warrants, the agency said.
He was due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Saturday, January 30, in the first stage of extradition proceedings.
Several other people were arrested in Belgium as part of the same sting.
An NCA spokesman said: "Belgian authorities want to speak to Shkirko in relation to the murder of a Lithuanian lorry driver whose body was found in Waasmunster, Belgium, in May 2015.
"He is also suspected of having a leading role in the smuggling of people for money into the UK, via Belgium, using complicit drivers and false documentation."
The UK side of the operation involved the Organised Immigration Crime Taskforce, which is led by the NCA but includes teams from immigration enforcement, the Border Force and the Crown Prosecution Service.
