January 13: Roehampton parents say children will miss out if Alton Activity Centre is closed
Councillor Jeremy Ambache said: "This was a really successful community event bring people together from the whole community.
"Roehampton parents will be addressing the council later this week putting the case to keep the centre open.
"I hope that the Tory councillors do think again and decide to keep this vibrant community centre open after April."
Currently, activities at the centre are run by the charity Spurgeon's, but the contract comes to an end this Spring.
Wandsworth Council has pledged to keep the centre open by running health visitor clinics, parenting support and help from the family recovery project.
A petition to renew the contract as it stands will be submitted to the council tomorrow night.
