Gazing lovingly into each other's eyes over the romantic poultry offering of a last-minute Nandos booking, happy couples celebrating Valentine's Day today might want to savour that warm feeling: the coming week is going to be cold.
After weeks of unseasonably mild temperatures, winter appears to have woken up. It is not expected to get any warmer than 6 degrees celcius today, according to the Met Office, with the mercury plummeting to near-freezing as night draws in.
It is a similar outlook for the rest of the week, with chilly night-time temperatures set to make for some frosty mornings.
Looking slightly further ahead, there is some good news: it should be a relatively dry week, with no major rain expected, and temperatures are predicted to climb back into the double figures by next Saturday.
But for now, those of us not basking in the glow of romantic happines would be well-advised to put on an extra jumper.
