A group that offers advice and support to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community in Wandsworth has celebrated its 10th birthday.

The Wandsworth LGBT forum marked a decade of its work with an event in the House of Commons with Battersea MP Jane Ellison on February 11.

David Robson, forum chairman, said: "While there is still work to do I feel it’s only right that we take some time to celebrate the battles won for LGBT equality.

"Jane has been a supporter of our group since day one.

"I am thankful to Jane for hosting our 10 years with friends and supporters in the Palace of Westminster. We are very proud of the work we have done locally, and across London, to ensure the needs of the community are heard."

The forum works with MPs, the council, the NHS and police as well as other services to develop the LGBT voice in the borough.

Mrs Ellison said: "I am delighted to host the Wandsworth LGBT Forum here in Parliament to celebrate their 10 years as a vital community voice.

"It is a pleasure to work with such a great team which does so much for the LGBT community in Wandsworth."
