A manager at Dawat restaurant said: "We will have another inspection.

"We had building work going on and we were only 50 per cent operational."

Marmaris Kebab and Fried Chicken's manager said the poor mark was received because of "damage caused by a flood and the water had come in from outside and leaked into the basement".

The damage has since been cleared up and the Food Standards Authority will be revisiting as soon as possible.

A spokesman from Dallas Chicken and Ribs said: "Dallas Chicken and Ribs was unaware of its 0 rating at its Tooting Branch.

"We can only assume that this has been allocated as a default score.

"We have since contacted the council and asked for a remark so that we can get our deserved up-to date score."

Doron Zilkha, manager of Battersea Quarter, said: "The one before this was a five star.

"The only reason why this happened was because in our building, right on the riverside, towards the end of summer, there was an infestation of mice in the whole building.

"It stemmed from the bins.

"We had to close the entire building to clear out the kitchen so we could find the source and cover it and fill in the holes."

Mr Zilka said that bulding work took place over four days and they were given the all-clear to reopen.

He confirmed they would be asking for another inspection to get the 5 rating back.

Rachel Magi, from Il Mascalzone in Putney High Street, said the restaurant had a new rating of 2 in a more recent inspection.

A Poundland spokesman said: "Our Wandsworth store had been closed to enable issues identified by the local Environmental Health Team to be investigated.

"These have been fully addressed and our store is trading with our full range again. Poundland takes matters relating to the health and safety of its colleagues and customers very seriously."
