A training academy for a security firm in Earlsfield has opened its doors, with apprenticeships on offer for young people in Wandsworth.

The Banham Group moved its London headquarters to Earlsfield late last year and has now opened The Banham Academy in an attempt to bring more young people into the security industry.

The academy is offering free traineeships and is working with Wandsworth Council to find young candidates.

Apprentices at the Banham Academy

Ravi Govindia, leader of Wandsworth Council, said: "This is great news for Wandsworth and I would like to congratulate Banham on the launch of this impressive facility.

"The company’s commitment to training and development is very welcome and local resident are already feeling the benefits since they arrived in our borough last year.

"The council’s Work Match local recruitment team is working with Banham helping to find motivated young candidates who can take full advantage."

One of the trainees is 23-year-old Yunus, who said he enjoys being busy and meeting new customers in his role.

The Academy will be expanding its training offer to include apprenticeships and other courses in the coming weeks.
