TalkSPORT breakfast news presenter and Wandsworth local Sandy Warr is offering guided walks around central London this summer.

In a bid to mark the Queen’s Birthday and her record-breaking 64 year reign, walkers will go on a two hour expedition. Following Westminster-qualified guides, participants will learn about the Queen and other monarchs including details on the place of King Charles I’s execution.

The walks will begin opposite the Palace of Westminster at 2pm on Saturday, July 9, and Saturday, August 13, and finish at Buckingham Palace. Standard walk tickets cost £10 while family tickets will cost £25.

As well as celebrating the Queen’s achievements, there will also be walks to commemorate the centenary of the Battle of the Somme (August 31) – the battle which is known for recording 57,000 casualties of British soldiers on the first day alone.

Sandy Warr said: “People should come on our tours because it will be a nice social experience and because they will benefit by gaining a deeper understanding of their own history and how the land was at the time.”

She added: “The guided walks will also give the public the opportunity to understand how the lives of women and other people changed because of the war as we already know the impact it had on the lives of the soldiers.”
