The date for the Tooting by-election has been confirmed for Thursday August 18.
The by-election has been called following the resignation of Tooting councillor Ben Johnson who has taken a job with the new Mayor of London Sadiq Khan.
Mr Johnson, who had been Tooting ward councillor for Labour since 2010 and will now become Mr Khan's political adviser.
The deadline for voters to register is August 2 and the election is open to citizens of Commonwealth countries, the Republic of Ireland, British Overseas Territories, and the European Union as well as British Citizens.
The deadline for people wishing to vote by postal vote is 5pm the August 3.
Anyone who is not registered should visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
Labour and the Lib Dems have said they will begin the selection process this weekend. The Wandsworth Guardian has contacted the Conservatives, Lib Dems and UKIP as to thier plans.
