Sarah Brown, charity campaigner and wife of Gordon Brown, was among those honoured at this year's University of Roehampton graduation ceremony.

Mrs Brown, a campaigner for global health and education and spouse of former prime minister Gordon Brown, was presented with an Honorary Doctorate of Laws for her "strategic leadership to worldwide efforts to save and change the lives of women and children".

More than 1,950 University of Roehampton students graduating on July 26 and 27 were joined by a selection of leaders in their fields, accepting honorary doctorates.

Businessman and former Roehampton graduate Stephen Ludlow, executive chairman of LudlowThompson estate agents, receive the 2016 Chancellor’s Prize for Outstanding Alumni Contribution.

David Jubb, chief executive of Battersea Arts Centre was awarded Honorary Doctorate of Arts, while Reverend Andrew Wakefield received the Honorary Doctorate of Divinity.

Mrs Brown has committed much of her life to philanthropy and is the president of children’s charity Theirworld which aims to give vulnerable babies and children "the best possible chance of living a healthy and happy life".

Mr Ludlow is a self-starting successful businessman who met his future business partner, David Thompson, while working at estate agents in Putney.

The pair later brought out the business and turned it into one of London’s leading estate agents, LudlowThompson.

Mr Jubb is a theatre producer who has worked closely with Battersea Art Centre and spearheaded the campaign to relaunch and rebuild the centre when a Fire severely damaged much of the theatre.

He was awarded the Honorary Doctorate of Arts for his "dedication to independent artists and companies".

Rev. Wakefield has worked as a clergy person in South West London for 38 years and in 2002 was awarded the Queen’s golden jubilee medal for contributions to public life.

He has held a range of roles in the community including; Chair of Merton Chamber of Commerce, Chair of Merton Community Plan, and Chair of London Civic Forum.

The graduation ceremonies took place at Royal Festival Hall, Southbank.
