Hundreds of people flocked to the annual Little Marlow Village Fete this bank holiday weekend and raised thousands of pounds for good causes.

The sun shone on the Little Marlow Recreation Ground on Monday for the fete, which saw 600 people turn out to join in the fun.

Village pubs The Queen’s Head and The King’s Head took part in their annual tug of war – with the Queen’s Head team walking away victorious.

The day – organised by Little Marlow Village Amenities Committee – has raised £6,000 so far which will be donated to community organisations including the air ambulance.

The most popular event throughout the day was the dog show - which saw guests enter their prized pooches in to categories ranging from the waggiest tale to most handsome.

Chairman of the Little Marlow Village Amenities Committee, Valerie Brownridge, said : “It was brilliant because the weather was so good. It was a lovely summer event and everyone had such a good time.

“We had around 500 to 600 people come down across the day and raised around £6,000 which we are really pleased about.

“The dog show was the one people enjoyed the most I think lots of people came down for that.

“We had a tug of war too and the Queens Head won. It was a very traditional summer fair.”

Little Marlow residents plan to meet at the end of October to discuss how the rest of the money raised will be spent.
