A Battersea student has been accepted into Cambridge University at the humble age of 16.

Teofil Aleksandrov, from Harris Academy Battersea, sat both his GCSE and A-level exams as well as his university of Cambridge entrance paper this summer.

He received two A*s in Maths and Further Maths and a B in Physics in his A-levels and was subsequently accepted at Churchill College, Cambridge.

Mr Aleksandrov, who is originally from Bulgaria, arrived in the UK aged 12 and qualifies for additional funding for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

David Moody, Principal of Harris Academy Battersea, said: “Teofil is an excellent student and it is quite beautiful to watch him at work.

"He is on a completely different level academically but extremely humble and unassuming with it.

"He has achieved a huge amount at just 16 years old and we're really looking forward  to following his future."
