Families will get the chance to ride on vintage buses, explore a grade II listed bus station and learn fascinating facts about the Tube this weekend.
Stockwell Bus Garage and Tube station, both on Binfield Road, have joined forces for a joint open day from 11am to 4pm on Saturday (October 15).
It is the first time a bus and Underground station have held such an event together and attractions include a selection of vintage buses, the chance to learn about the history of buses and Tube, tours of the area on a heritage bus, rides on a horse-drawn omnibus, stalls and stands and facepainting.
The bus station received Grade II listing in 1988 because of its impressive arched roof which was the largest rood span unsupported by steel girders in Europe when it was built in 1952.
Entry to the bus station is by donation, with proceeds going towards the Missing People charity.
