A 'die-in' will be staged later this evening in memory of a cyclist killed by a lorry in Lavender Hill.

Lucia Ciccioli, 32, was killed in Battersea at about 8am on Monday, October 24.

Despite efforts from London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, Ms Ciccioli was pronounced dead at the scene.

She is the seventh cyclist to die on London’s road this year.

Stop Killing Cyclists, a group campaigning for Heavy Good’s Vehicles to be banned from London’s roads, will hold a vigil at the junction of Lavender Hill and Elspeth Road where Ms Ciccioli died.

A ‘die-in’, a demonstration where campaigners lie in the road as if dead, will follow after talks by speakers at 6pm.

A spokesman for the group wrote on Facebook: “Further to our event to remember Sheila Karsberg in Camden, we are calling on Mayor Sadiq Khan to expedite the introduction of the ban on HGVs in London.

“In addition, we would like Mayor Khan to clarify his position and provide details of the safety ranking system which he has proposed to bring in. We have no idea what a 5 star rated or 0 star rated HGV is currently.”

The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene. No arrests have been made.
