A 'prolific motor vehicle thief' has taunted police as they appeal for help to find him.

Nathan Bick, 18, is wanted by Wandsworth police in connection with a number of motor vehicle thefts. The police say Mr Bick favours stealing mopeds, and often uses them to commit other crimes.

From Monday: Most wanted: Wandsworth police appeal for information about prolific motor vehicle thief

However, on an appeal on Wandsworth police's Facebook page, Mr Bick has begun responding to comments about his whereabouts, including taunting the police and arguing with members of the public.

It began when a commenter on the page said she would be in touch if she saw him, to which Mr Bick replied: 'Hopefully I see you too love'.

Wandsworth police then wrote: 'Might as well hand yourself in now, Nathan', but Mr Bick taunted them, saying 'Just Keep Up If You Can'.

Wandsworth Times:

Wandsworth police replied, saying: 'Like I said, might as well hand yourself in now. Or you can give us a call on the number on the appeal above, which has been seen by 50,000 people.

'And don't worry about transportation, we can arrange that'.

Mr Bick replied: 'I think you didn't understand when I said keep up but yeah am back on my back wheel for you pigs 24s [sic]'.

Commenters were split between defending Mr Bick and wishing Wandsworth police luck in catching the outspoken suspect, while Mr Bick continued to respond the messages left under his picture.

A spokesman for Wandsworth police said: "Since we started publishing images of wanted susects on Facebook, there was always the possibility that one would comment on our page, on their own appeal.

"While efforts to locate the individual will continue, this provides us with a further opportunity to make a direct appeal for him to hand himself in."

Police say Mr Bick should not be approached, and anyone who sees him should dial 999 immediately.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts should contact Wandsworth police on 101.
