A Wandsworth resident has been named the 4th most successful person with a disability in Britain in the Power 100 list.

Liz Sayce OBE, the CEO of Disability Rights UK, strives to achieve equal participation for all, through programmes on independent living, career opportunities and shifts in cultural attitudes and behaviour.

The Tooting campaigner is a member of the Committee of Healthwatch England, a Trustee of the Equality and Diversity Forum and a member of the Social Security Advisory Committee.

She led an Independent Review into disability employment programmes for Government in 2011 and has published widely on mental health, disability and social participation.

Liz Sayce said: “For those of us who have experienced mental or physical health challenges, what we most want is a world that is fully inclusive, where everyone can participate equally.

“I hope that this Power List will raise awareness that living with health conditions or impairments is an ordinary part of being human, and one that shouldn’t restrict opportunities.”

Roy O’Shaughnessy of the Shaw Trust Employment Charity which helps disabled people into work said: “This is a celebration of the achievements from role models.

“But it is also a celebration of those small achievements reached every day by Britain’s 10 million disabled people in the at home, in workplace and training and in education.

“With over 10 million disabled people in Britain, everyone has their own inspirational, very personal story of overcoming barriers to succeed.”
