A motorcyclist in his early sixties has died following a crash on Roehampton Lane yesterday morning.

A car and a motorbike collided just after 9am on Monday January 9.

The rider of the bike was taken to a south London Hospital by London’s Air Ambulance in critical condition but died from his injuries in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A spokesperson for London's Air Ambulance said: "Our advanced trauma team was dispatched via aircraft by the London Ambulance Service at 9.07am on January 9 to reports of a road traffic collision in Roehampton Lane. 

"Following treatment, the patient was transported to a major trauma hospital by road with the London Ambulance Service."

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following the fatal collision.

A spokesperson for Met Police said: "The driver of the car stopped at the scene, they were not arrested and are assisting detectives with their enquires."

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 9:20am on Monday, 9 January to Roehampton Lane, SW15, to a report of a collision between a car and a motorcycle.

His next of kin have been informed.

Formal identification and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating.
