Allfarthing Primary School started 2017 by welcoming a new headteacher to its helm.

Tom Holmes’ last role was as acting head at Ofsted outstanding-rated St Mary’s CE Primary School in Twickenham and before that he taught at Wandsworth’s Honeywell School, another Ofsted outstanding school.

Mr Holmes, who has 13 years of teaching experience, said: "I am delighted to be joining the vibrant Allfarthing community.

"As well as ensuring that we have a rich, balanced curriculum with a strong focus on English and Maths, I am planning to expand our extra-curricular activities.

"For example, I leave a legacy of running clubs in my last three schools and I’m keen to introduce the same at Allfarthing.

"My arrival marks the start of a new era of positive change for the school and I can’t wait to get started.”

Andrew Bacon, chairman of governors at Allfarthing, said: "Tom is joining us at an exciting time and we are absolutely thrilled to have him on board.

"We have been impressed by his passion for the school, his energy and his commitment to ensuring Allfarthing remains at the heart of the community.

"We have recently built some fantastic facilities including new play equipment and outdoor nature zone and we are looking forward to Allfarthing going from strength to strength with Tom at the helm."
